Meet the Press

press

Believe it or not, the printing business is a highly segmented industry which can encompass a wide variety of services based on the type of press(es) a print shop has in use. This is why it is possible to gather several print masters in the same room and find that none of them make the same product, service the same industry, or have the same capabilities. I find, therefore, that it may be helpful to dedicate at least one post to explaining exactly what Tekna Packaging does.

To know what we do, is to know precisely what kind of press we have in house. Now, it is important to note that this not our only press, so we are not limited to the scope of these capabilities. This is simply an outline of the properties of our newest press, located at our facility in Greer, South Carolina.

We house a Mark Andy 2200 10 inch narrow web flexographic press. Our press has 8 color stations, which is necessary for creating stunning and visually pleasing high resolution graphics. This roll to roll press can print on a variety of material types producing a wide array of labels including polyester, polypropylene, polyethylene, vinyl, kimdura labels, paper labels in a variety of finishes, and UV varnished labels to name a few. It can print in press speeds of up to 500 feet per minute, making a 3 ship a day operation without breaking a sweat.

This is a press that is primarily used to create high quality, pressure sensitive labels, thermal transfer labels, and direct thermal labels. How does this apply to your business? In truth, everything needs a label, and that means that this particular press is capable of printing everything from the product labels on the bottle, can, or container; to the blank shipping labels you put on your boxes as you send your product for delivery. Chances are, if you are a part of the food, health and nutrition, or automotive industry, you have seen our work.

So there you have an overview of the press operation at our Greer location. This press provides an excellent complement to our overall product offering, which includes these and other services such as the sale of standard ribbons, blank labels and label printers, as well as our services in flexible packaging. Our joy is taking a job from conception to production by providing 100% custom packaging solutions for each customer. We love discussing new ideas with people who are as passionate about their product as we are about ours. So, whether you are launching a new product idea and shopping for packaging for the first time, or you are an industry veteran looking to re-evaluate your product’s presentation, Tekna Packaging has the solution.
